Dicky Cheung: the Monkey King of Comedy
When you see artist and actor Dicky Cheung on screen, chances are you're going to see something truly hilarious. Known for his comedic roles, Dicky starred as the legendary charismatic Monkey King in the TV series "Journey To The West" as well as other favorable roles including his portrayal as a hysterically funny teenager in the movie "Future Cops" and his role in a Taiwanese comedy TV series "Duke of Mount Deer". During the rise of Dicky's carer, he was fiercely compared to as another Stephen Chow type, but has since developed his own style and is considered by film directors as one of their first picks when it comes to comedy films. Dicky isn't known to be as crass or as sarcastic as Stephen Chow, but is known for cleaner and simpler comedy, often using his body language, movements and facial expressions to draw laughter rather than by cracking vulgar jokes. For every character Dicky portrays, be it as a comic or as a more serious character, he seems to become them himself, a technique Dicky uses for plausibility in which many actors could not emulate.

Dicky's singing career is also successful although most of his fame is conjured from his acting career. He started singing at a young age at night clubs to earn money. It wasn't until Dicky won TVB's singing contest in 1984 did he become famous. Following this event, his claim to fame was reinforced with a smashing hit, "Aiya Aiya Kiss You". Even though many of his songs were used in conjunction with his television series, one of Dicky's new songs, "Healthy Body," became an inspirational part of secondary school education by encouraging students to cherish life. Having gone through many experiences himself, Dicky learns to be patient, strong and to listen to others in order to follow his own dream for a better future. Though whatever Dicky does, the effort he puts in will guide him towards success.

Career Highlights:
• 20 albums released (1992-2003)
• 1984: Wins TVB's singing contest with the song "The Criss-Cross of Love"
• 1985: First TVB series "From Four D"
• 1985: Film debut of "Crazy Games"
• 1996: Becomes well known for his TVB series "Journey to the West"
• 2002: Stars in TVB Series "Monkey King"
• 2003: New song "Healthy Body" becomes an educational part of secondary school in HK.

Where is he now?
Dicky is spending most of his time in Hong Kong, Taiwan and China making television series. Dicky says he is planning to marry Cheung Sai in 2005!

I'm from Germany and even here Dicky is known as one of the best Chinese comedy actors (and singers). Still we can't watch his shows here, but we buy our things from China and hope that someday we will see some of his things around here. Dicky, if you read this, don't forget you fans outside of China. ^_^

Dicky Cheung - A complete actor

Dicky Cheung can do it all!! he's good at acting & singing. "Duke of Mount Deer" & "Journey to The West" is gotta be his best work, well that’s my opinion. But yeah I can watch these 2 tv series over and over! And I’ll never get sick of it. Its very Addicting!! So I hope some day he’ll make a kung fu comedy movie and release it in the USA , that would be cool!
