Perry Como of Hong Kong
Daniel Lam from Hong Kong on September 30, 2005
His laid back style and sooth voice is comparable to that of the American crooner Perry Como. In fact, they both shared a few tunes in their repretoir. Michael, with his well educated background, is no stranger to intrepretating English standards. Tunes like 'Unchained Melody', "My Cup Runneth With Love', "Love Me Tender', and many others have been covered by him.
I grew up with his music and my interest in the music scene of Hong Kong died with Michael's decision to completely withdraw from it.
It's a pity that there is no longer any room to accomodate vocal style like his in today's pop scene, and people's love for him revived in the past decade. I sincerely hope Michael would take note of that and reconsider his decision.
By the way, the title of the first song in this list is not '魚丹唱晚' 'Yue Dan Cheong Man' but instead, '漁舟唱晚' "Yue Zhau Cheung Man'. "Zhau" is the Chinese character for boat.

Michael has such a wonderful voice that I will never forget. I started to listen to him when I was a teenager in Hong Kong and now in my mid forties, I still remember most of his songs.
Too bad that he is not releasing any new songs again. I can only hear him occassionally in HKVP Radio. I miss him forever.
