An Inner Beauty
Often when you think of a Hong Kong star, you think of a beautifully wrapped package. Unfortunately,
most of us don't consider Sandy Lam a beauty. The industry is fickle and embraces not the best,
not the brightest, not the boldest, but the most beautiful. Sandy has all but the most important
criteria for success. To that end, she has become one of the most hardworking gals in the recording
industry. Her music has been influenced by wonderful producers, most notably Anthony Lun Wing Leung.
Her style is graceful. If listening to the current female artists is like chugging cheap, bad beer,
then listening to Sandy is like sipping red wine.

I first got introduced to Sandy Lam's music in the early 90's and have been a fan since. It was only recently that I stumbled across her Greatest Hits CD and did I miss her voice and talent. She was the pioneer of pop, dance and paved ways for many current HK singers who attempt to emulate her but there will only be one Sandy Lam.
Amazing vocalist

Sandy's music stands out in the middle-of-the road canto-pop scene. Her early albums from Wantonness to the 'The Colour Grey' had a great pop-rock style with her vocals splintering emotions all over her songs with a delicate breathiness and passion. Her slow songs are what most remember - some of her Mandarin albums are timeless classics including covers of Teresa Teng's 'The night is fragrant' and the superlative 1991 Mandarin album. Her Wildflower album, although in Cantonese is gorgeously jazzy - Sandy Lam has come to epitomise the queen of Cantonese romance in the 1990's when everyones else's granny was listening to Anita Mui. The opening review with its prejudices for Hong Kong saccharin cosmetic and limp pop princesses is exactly what Sandy is not. If you haven't heard Sandy Lam, then you haven't loved the Cantonese way properly.
Simply one of the best!

Since the mid 90s, I have not bought any Chinese CDs because of they are simply terrible. I grew up with the 80s music. Thanks God! Current state of Asian pop (Chinese and Japanese) music is depressing - bubble gum with touched-up images and no talent. Yuck!
Having said that, Sandy Lam is always reliable as far as quality music is concerned. She possesses a great voice and always grows as a musician. I am glad that I live through her music.
Sandy Lam rocks!!!

I do not understand why someone would say Sandy is not beautiful. As far I am concerned Sandy is the most beautiful person on the planet, both inside and out. Her beautiful voice, positive attitude and inspiring music has been a big force in keeping me going through out the years. Never give up Sandy! You will always be #1 with me!
Best of Sandy Lam!
