Jacky Cheung wasn't lip-syncing...but his band was, when Jacky was here for the Madison Square Garden shows in New York a few years ago.
I heard from my parents' friends, who were part of Jacky's band, that the entire band was just acting, and Jacky was performing to pre-recorded music. The main giveaway was when Jacky was going to start singing a song that began with piano playing. When he looked over to the keyboard, he noticed that his producer and keyboard-ist Chui Yat-Kan wasn't there. (Apparently Chui Yat-Kan had diarrhea and had to go to the men's room). Jacky immediately said he doesn't feel like singing this song right now, had the music stopped, and said let's talk some more. Jacky talked all the way until Chui Yat-Kan came back from the men's room. |

Not surprising, Anni. Vast majority of the people could care less whether the music is live or .... ahem, Memorex. As long as the singer they want to see appears live. |
