I would like to know what are the most popular songs from BEYOND.

So please name your top three.

Thanks.

There are too many excellent Beyond songs, which makes it tough to narrow it down to just three - but here you go:
- Joi Geen Lay Seung
- Ng Yeh Yuen Kook
- Sui Boon Ngoh Chong Dong

Other songs that I really like:
- Sui Yuet Mo Sing
- Dai Day
- Jin Seng Sum Moh
- Sing Nay
- Ngoh Jo Ying Goi Jaap Gwan
- Mo Fui Jeh Yut Sung
- Hay Foon Nay
- Ching Yun
- Gwong Fai Sui Yuet
- Hoi Fuet Teen Hung
- Gaw Yut Dik Jook Jik

This is only scratching the surface, and I'm sure that I've forgotten lots (e.g. Cheung Sing, Jun Dik Ngoi Nay). It's too hard to choose...(plus, I can't seem to follow instructions).

Quasi - I'm surprised you know so much about Beyond's tunes - are you a fan or something? Laughing

"Really Love You - Jun Dik Ngoi Nay" just get a footnote???????

To me that's the best one from Beyond and maybe top ten of my all fav.

There may be 2 or 3 other Beyond songs I liked but dunno the name:

I think one is "Hoi Fuet Teen Hung " (does he sing something to the effect of <<Ngoi Gee yow - Love Freedom">>?

Another has lyric something of <<Arabian Dancing Girl>> tune from 1987.

Yukon, Quasi's the biggest Beyond fan I know! Very Happy

My top 3 favorite are the obvious ones:
Spacious Seas & Skies - Hoi Fuet Teen Hung
Truly Love You - Jun Dik Ngoi Nay
Glorious Days - Gwong Fai Sui Yuet

Yukon, yes you're right about "Ngoi Jee Yau" and we wil play the Arabian song soon.

Like I said earlier, it was hard for me to just choose three and so I had to draw the line somewhere. I do like Jun Dik Ngoi Nay alot, esp. the 1991 live version where it had a bit of a country twang.

Hoi Fuet Teen Hung is great, and I like the lyrics to Gwong Fai Sui Yuet - a song about racism and dedicated to Nelson Mandela. Along the same lines, Amani - which means "peace" in Swahili. As for the other "footnote" song, Cheung Sing, it's a stirring tribute to one of the world's greatest landmark and the people who built it.

Even though there are many others, the above are usually my "must listen" songs when I pull out the Beyond CDs. Smile

I remember when Beyond's "亞拉伯跳舞女郎" (Arabian Dancing Girl) came out, it sounded so different and so "free". Definitely one of my favorite Beyond songs.

Another song I enjoyed from around the same time was actually written for Bennett Pang 彭健新 (of Wynners fame) by Wong Kar-kui....it was call "無名的歌" (Song Without Name). It was in a style similar to "Arabian Dancing Girl", but more polished.

Of course, who can forget the song Beyond wrote for Sam Hui, "交織千個心" (Weaving Thousands of Hearts). Not only a great anti-war song, but a great song, period. Sam Hui and Beyond appeared in the video together. Beyond eventually covered this song on their own.

Agreed, Danny - good song. But I never realized that it was originally written for, and sung by, Sam Hui. Shocked

I've only ever heard the Beyond version. And just as Beyond's version of "Boon Gunn Baat Leung" differed quite a bit from Sam's, now I'm gonna have to hunt down Sam's version of "Gow Jik Cheen Goh Sum". You've piqued my curiousity Danny. Cool

OK Danny - I have to ask...

Where is this Sam Hui/Beyond video?

We know its not in any of Sam's official Universal/Polygram releases, what about from the Beyond camp?

I agreed on what u said bout that "Arabian Dancing Girl" (see my post above).

Its the first Beyond song I heard when it came out in 87 when I was in HK and I also thought "hmmmm - different".

The Sam Hui version of "交織千個心" (Weaving Thousands of Hearts), featuring Beyond as his backing band, is on the "Sam and Friends" album. Released in 1988, the album also featured songs by Tat Ming Pair, Dominic Chow, Teddy Robin, Alan Tam, Blue Jeans, Sam Hui himself, and of course, Leslie Cheung ("Silence is Golden"). This album by itself is probably out of print, but it was re-released earlier this year as part of the 18 CD Sam Hui boxset. I have seen stores that broke the set apart and sell the CDs individually.

The video of "交織千個心" (Weaving Thousands of Hearts) is actually available at TVB.com. Sign up and join the family.

By the way, on one of those TVB music shows years ago, Beyond and Tai Chi together did a rocking version of Sam Hui's "A Drifter's Song". Not available anywhere, I imagine.
